Our Founder
Brian Alvarez
Brian Alvarez founded CFO Worx in 2022 after a decade as a finance professional, CEO, and CFO. Passionate about scaling private businesses and guiding entrepreneurs through their most critical financial decisions, he has served as a board member for multiple organizations, was named CFO of the Year in Tampa (2022), and regularly advises CEOs of companies valued from $5M to $500M+.
His insights have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, NBC, C-Span, Tampa Bay Times, The Business Journal, and Mergers & Acquisitions.
Education & Early Career
Brian graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, earning degrees in Arabic and Economics. He studied abroad in Morocco, trained in Egypt and Korea, and graduated in the top 15% of his class. Commissioned as a U.S. Army Intelligence Officer, he served five years on active duty, including a deployment to Eastern Afghanistan, before joining the Reserves, where he continues to serve as a Major supporting operations in the Middle East.
After scoring in the top 1% globally on the GMAT, Brian earned his MBA from Harvard Business School, focusing on finance, entrepreneurship, and acquisitions. He later worked in middle-market investment banking and private equity, before acquiring and operating an industrial services company as CEO.
Leadership & Vision
Brian’s leadership philosophy centers on Systems, Process, and People- building strong foundations, professionalizing operations, and empowering teams to scale.
In 2021, he became CFO of Blue.cloud, leading the investment process with a New York private equity firm that valued the company at $100M+, earning recognition as CFO of the Year. He remains an investor in Blue.cloud and later launched CFO Worx to deliver Fortune 500-level financial leadership to mid-market businesses.
Today, Brian guides clients through growth, transformation, and transactions including deals from $5M to $250M, with personal investments in transactions valued up to $525M. His approach is grounded in partnership, clarity, and integrity: always advising clients as if their business were his own.
